Magnificent Mermaid Crowns!

Ages 7-11 years old

Has your child ever wanted to live in a magical underwater realm where they spend days swimming amongst marine creatures, basking in the sun, and gathering tiny treasures dropped by the humans? While I can’t guarantee any of the swimming or sunshine, we have already collected the tiny treasures and are ready to put them to good use. Join us for an afternoon creating mermaid crowns. Children will work with a headband, foam, hot glue, and beautiful treasures to build a magnificent crown fit for aquatic royalty.

Taught by our newest magpie teacher, here's a bit about her! Her name is Kevin and she is truly a creative little spark of fun - full of ideas!  

I love to create and make. I grew up in a creative family where my mother made all manner of items as gifts. One summer, my cousins and I pretended to host a show where we demonstrated all of the fabulous things we could make. It was called “Crafty Mama.” I can’t explain because we weren’t especially crafty and none of us were old enough to have children. In recent years, I’ve noticed how much joy comes out when we gather to create, relax, celebrate, and connect. And there is something in the beauty of art that makes sense of the world to me. I experiment, try, fail, succeed and feel a true sense of empowerment no matter the outcome. And that is why I am teaching classes; so that I can provide the space for you open yourself to that same experience, or whatever experience is meaningful for you. Currently, my favorite artistic pursuits include creating wool felt flowers for boxes and banners, painting, and miniatures.
